Design for Manufacturability (DfM) in Electronics
v. Poul Juul, direktør
HYTEK

Why is DfM necessary? Design for Manufacturability (DfM) is very important for the yield and reliability of electronic products. DfM is not limited to layout optimization but also to the materials and manufacturing processes used. Therefore, cooperation between sales, development, testing, purchasing and production is very important. This gives special challenges when outsourcing of these items e.g. outsourcing of PCB layout.

Another aspect of improving yields, which may or may not qualify as “DfM,” is the level of communication between the design and manufacturing sides of the equation.

The seminar provides an overview of contexts and practical possibilities for implementation of Design for Manufacturability.

Corrosion in Electronics – a challenge
v. Poul Juul, direktør
HYTEK

Corrosion on electronic assemblies is a major reliability concern especially after implementation of Lead free soldering processes. An important process related contamination is solder flux residues, which can act as a corrosion promoter in humid atmosphere due to the presence of ionic substances in combination with humidity and voltage potential. This seminar will highlight the failure description and test examples from electronic assemblies with focus on electrochemical migration (ECM).
