Cyber-Bio-Physical Systems: From molecules to the cloud and back

We have witnessed an increasing interest in the biomedical field, because the biological sciences have become more quantitative and because of the growing economical and societal challenges of improving our health care system.
Cyber-Medical Systems are integration of computation with physical processes related to the medical domain, i.e. a fusion of medical and engineering technologies to support health management for diagnosis, monitoring and prevention of diseases.
This talk will address the challenges and opportunities of developing portable Cyber-Medical Systems which integrates fully functional micro biochemical laboratories (Lab-on-Chip) into palm sized diagnostic devices, which can be fully reprogrammed on the fly, similar to general purpose CPU’s in a computer.
